England Training Trip
|
With their recent successes at the Canadian Championships and at the Blackpool Dance Festival, Joel and Clara have decided to completely immerse themselves in the dance culture. With the dance season slowing down in Vancouver, Joel & Clara have decided to relocate to London, England until the end of January. For six months, Joel and Clara will be living and training in England. They will be surrounded by numerous high level coaches, competitors from all over the world, and they will have easier access to various competitions throughout Europe. During their stay in England, Joel and Clara plan to travel to various competitions to maintain their competitive skills. They plan to compete in England, Germany, Denmark, Miami and perhaps a few other countries in Europe. Joel and Clara also plan to take lessons with many of the past World and Blackpool Champions who live in the greater London area. During the 2002-2003 season, Joel and Clara worked extensively with their coach, Denis Tremblay, who (luckily for them) moved from Toronto to their hometown, Vancouver just last year. Joel and Clara also found inspiration while working with Benoit and Lorraine Drolet, who visit Canada quite frequently. Although they will miss working with Denis, they will be working alongside many of his own coaches and peers. In London, Joel and Clara will continue to work with Benoit and Lorraine, as well as Robert and Barbara Grover, Marcus and Karen Hilton, John Wood and Anne Gleave, along with a handful of supplementary teachers on occasion. Visit the following pages to see where they live and train, as well as who they've met and what they've learnt on their "pursuit of excellence". Joel and Clara would specifically like to thank Roy & Terri Maguire of ADT Security Systems as well as all the patrons of Summer Magic 2003 for their generous support of this England 2003 training trip.
