Where do they train?

Life's little lessons

Being such a large city with so many more people, Joel & Clara found that the dance community in Toronto was a lot bigger than that of Vancouver.   There were numerous places to take lessons, practice and even go to social parties.

Viva Dance Studio, owned by Sylvain and Tanya Cardinal (two-time Canadian Latin Champions)  was where Joel & Clara took their lessons (with Denis Trembltiay) and practiced during the week.  The studio was open for practice at any time of the day, for $10 per couple.  There were also competitor practices offered two nights per week.

Twice a week, Joel & Clara also practiced at the local community centres.  These practice sessions had no charge, as they were organized by local competitors who booked the gymnasiums and brought their own music.  Since the practice floor fees in Toronto were a lot more expensive than in Vancouver, Joel & Clara took every opportunity to attend these community centre practice sessions.  There's plenty of floor space, air conditioning and good music...so what else does one need?
